Summer is officially over. Had the last of the locally grown sweet corn for supper. Had it with pork ribs on the grill and baked potato and had the last 2 tomatos too! Gotta wait about 9 or 10 months before I eat that good again!
Sounds nice, but sad. We grilled last week-end. I don't think we'll be able to again, unless we dress up in the thermo suits.

We will be grilling out tomorrow for the "official" first day of winter by the old norse calendar. But we usually grill all winter long, and watch the northern lights.
Your post had me happy and sad at the same time. The food sounded great, but the end of a season is a sad thing for me. Anyway--the memory of that "Last Supper" was one that will stick with you for a while, right? It sounded delicious.
I don't usually advertise items on the net, but I do have a great recommendation for a product. If you have seen commercials for Debbie Myers green bags on tv her in the states they do work. They are for keeping you veggies in the fridge. Supposedly they let the etheline gas escape which is what causes produce to rot. My wife puts all of our produce in them. The corn had been in one for a month in the refridgerator and was just as good as the day we bought it. You can also get them at Wal Mart and at Krogers. And they aren't very expensive. You can reuse them to. Just rinse them out and let them dry.
Hey Capt, thanks for the tip on the Debbie Myers bags. I am always looking for ways to keep veggies fresh in the fridge for a longer time. I tried FoodSaver's produce keepers, I love their sealing machine for the freezer but the produce keepers are a waste of time, money and veggies. The little packet that you place on the top of the plastic leaked and I had purple streaks of whatever that was all over my poor veggies. I will have to order some of those green bags. I can grill pretty much year round here but cannot find decent corn at anytime of the year. The corn they grow here tastes like what I imagine feed corn would taste like. They do import corn from the U.S. but it is very expensive and not so fresh. So I have to wait for trips back home for sweet corn. I am grilling up some zucchini and summer squash today.
I do not mind seeing the end of summer come. This year we have had high temperatures until now. It does not really feel like fall here yet. I am looking at some mums to pot on my porch. They always make me get in the fall mood.
I am just outside Cincinatti, closer to the Kentucky border. I have heard of Marysville but was not quite sure which part of the state it was in.
