It's raining!! It's raining!! Hooray! It's raining! Now, some of you may think that's nothing to shout about but I don't think we had over 5 inches of rain in all of 2007 so starting 2008 with rain is something we will shout about. Unless, it turns to snow. Well, I will probably still shout but it will be "Go away!" I talked to my son who lives in Lodi, California last night. He said they had a terrible weather day up there. High winds and rain all over the state, but mostly in the north. They had about 4 inches and it was still raining pretty hard.
dr loaded the truck to go to the flea market this morning because it wasn't supposed to start raining here until afternoon. But, it was cloudy and misty when we left here and we crossed a line between no rain and rain about Humboldt. It rained all day. We gave each person checking out books a bag. One lady said, "oh, I don't need a bag." I told her, "Yes, you do need a bag. It's raining. When it's raining, everyone gets a bag for their books." She took her books in a bag. Probably just to spite me she took them out when she got around the corner. People were bringing in wet books that we had to dry before we could check them in. What's between their ears?
It is going to rain all night tonight and all day tomorrow and maybe snow a bit above 5,000 feet on Monday. Then, it will move into someone else's neighborhood. But, all our bushes and trees will be happy for awhile. Some of ours look pretty sad from lack of moisture all last year. So, I'll shout, "It's raining! It's raining!" and listen to it hit the roof all night long. dooley

You go girl. When you need the rain its nice to finally have it. Our snow here in northern Michigan will be melting as the warm air moves in, with fog and drizzle too. But that will come to an end as they say we'll have more snow by next weekend. Enjoy your rain. :)

Coming from Scotland it's hard to believe that you had hardly any rain at all in 2007 Dooley. I guess I'm just used to it raining here for most of the year. I'm really pleased for you and I hope that 2008 brings you enough rain to keep your garden happy and you plants flourishing. :stew1:

We've been in the middle of a drought for several years. We never get the rain we need. It doesn't come over the mountains and California has more than they need and it causes mudslides, etc. That's just our climate patterns here. dooley

We are getting rain here also but not like California. Our earlier rain and snow helped our year end totals and now we start over. I hope yours helps you a lot. Wannabe

Glad you're getting rain at last. I hope you catch up on what you need. I really do like the area of the U.S. where you live. It is so dramatically different from Holland in every imaginable way. My
wife just finished making a delightful DVD of the pictures taken there recently. I am really proud of her, all I did was show her the basics of our software and she took right off like a natural talent. It is mostly landscapes.
Do you get flashfloods where you live?

I hope you'll get some desert blooms as a result of the rain. My folks lived south of Tucson and we visited there often. It's beautiful to see the desert in bloom. We've got rain here today, too (unfortunately)...we'd rather have snow at this time of year.

It's still raining this morning and we are going out in it. There are areas where we get flash floods and areas that fill with water. When our creek runs we have to take a long way around to get to the main road. It will be close to March before we get wildflowers here but at a lower altitude they will get flowers earlier. We'll take the rain that comes and wish for more. dooley

When we came home yesterday the creek was running and water was going across the road. We generally use the one lane bridge to get to us anyway when we are coming home.
This morning it is pouring and the backyard is a lake. Chance ran down there but the second her feet hit the water she slid to a stop and backed up. She walked around with me but she sort of thought I was weird walking around in the stuff. I took the hoe and cleared out the drainage so it can get down to the alley. dr figures we've had about 5 or 6 inches so far. He looked at Prescott Valley's weather and it says they are going to have two to four inches of heavy wet snow mixed with rain. I wonder how much will be there when I have to go to work tonight.
We really need the rain but not all in three days. It just runs off now. It's muddy about six inches down now. I see it's going to quit this afternoon and then rain again on Wednesday. That will give it time to soak in a bit but the creek will still carry a lot of it downhill and it will end up in Lake Pleasant which I guess needs the water, too. At least we didn't have gale force winds like Devon Pete. They are only 10 to 20. The vent in the bathroom is leaking water and the one in the laundry room soaked Chance's bed which we will try to get dry to day. Have a nice day everyone! dooley

Still raining here, too, and it's pretty dreary...we've had fog/rain/slush for 3 days now with temps in the 40's. We're hoping for snow before the Packers play this weekend at Lambeau field in Green Bay. Normally the fans are wearing their snowmobile suits to the games...this year they may need their raincoats instead. The Greenhouse Effect is in effect.
