At oldest daughter's house for Christmas, snow coming down heavy, grass almost completely covered, and getting colder.

Toni, I'm so happy for you since I know how much you love snow. As I've said before, better you than me! I'll settle for the 1.3" of rain we got this morning.

Well, for once, I'm saying send that snow my way Toni. I'm getting more than a little fed up of this constant rain and would like to have change. Christmas just isn't the same here without the white stuff. :(

No snow here, no electric either. but good news. The electric came back about half an hour age. Only out 23 and 1/2 hours.

The morning started out rainy, then about 1 p.m. with 1.5 inches of rain the gauge the rain turned to sleet then very soon turned to snowflakes. Huge, fluffy and coming down by the hundreds almost at once. Fell for about 5 hours, sometimes smaller flakes and lighter but with frequent gusts of large flakes and a lot of wind that would blow it at an almost 45 degree angle to the south. When it started sticking to the sidewalk and streets with the temperature at 28 and falling, we decided we had better pack up and come home before the slush on the streets turned to ice.

It probably won't even get about 32deg today, but with a bright sun and clear skies the snow doesn't have much of a chance of still being here by nightfall. But this is the first time in my life we have ever had snow actually falling on christmas day. Three years ago there was snow on the ground from the day before so we called that a white christmas but this was so much more exciting.

What we were greeted by when we got home last night. Some places there was only an inch, some spots almost 2 inches....

Well, Toni, MERRY CHRISTMAS. I wish I could send you our snow. It just started....we are supposed to be getting about 14 inches by tomorrow morning....By this afternoon/evening I think the roads will be impassable. Our twp superintendent said he can't keep up with it if it comes down that fast. If he can't then neither can the county plow drivers. They will have to start in the early morning hours when it is tapering off and keep at it. I can already imagine the piles of snow at intersections, in parking lots and at driveway ends..... I sure hope no one needs to get emergency care....that will be difficult.

Only reason I love snow. Red cardinals against it. And to cover plants to protect them. But enjoy it. We're to get more Friday.

Your snow is lovely Toni. We got about 1/2 inch here overnight. It is pretty, but I love it much deeper.
