I got the wood shed cleaned out this morning and the left over wood restacked. I had right at a cord of wood left over. Mon. I had a friend of mine give me some precut firewood. Picked it up on Tues. and it filled my pickup truck bed. It had been cut at fireplace length, so will have to cut it in half. Some of it has been split, but is too big, so will have to spit them again. But that doubles my wood! If I had, had to pay for it, it would have cost me $125. to $150 for it. Aldso got the wood splitter out and got it to running and set up. So I am all ready for the wood season!

It pays to start early. We have big logs that need cut and split and small ones that only need cut. If you don't start early you end up doing it while it's snowing. Do you want to come and fill our woodshed? You'd have to build one first though. dr is collecting stuff for building a shed.

Oh Capt...you had to go and remind me about fall chores already, didn't you! I want to enjoy summer just a little longer before I start thinking about winter :)
I'm glad YOU got a head start though!

This really sounds like a fall chore. The air needs to be crisp with a hint of leaves on the ground. I have not enjoyed all the flowers yet. :)

Capt.... good idea on getting a head start... and nothing beats a free truckload of firewood. But I hope you do take it easy and not overdo it!

A free load of wood, is still a free load of wood, even if it must be cut up some more.

I have not even started on mine yet. I have about a rick of old wood that I should burn off, or make a separate pile with. I dont want to drag those varmints indoors with it this winter. Hmm... maybe my wood guy would be interested in cutting down those trees needed for the barn on shares ?
