I was checking out the raspberries last night. Let the missus know that we had some ready to pick. I left for work about 4:15. The missus took our scrap and metal recycle in around 10:00 and got back an hour and a half later. She then went to pick the berries, AND A FORTY FOOT HEDGE HAD BEEN PICKED CLEAN OF COLOR! :scheming:

Whosomever done it, had best not let me catch 'em. If'n you watched 'The Hatfields and McCoy's' on The History Channel, you understand what 'hillbilly hate' can be like. I won't tolerate a thief. If'n your hungry, I'll feed you. Don't steal from me, I'm a merciless SOB.

Had to be a neighbor too.

That's dreadful. I hope whoever stole all your raspberries suffers for it.

FBG,post a sign saying, "These raspberries have been treated with an experimental pesticide, and are not fit for human consumption. If you have eaten any of these berries, please consult your family doctor. There may still be time to save you."
It won't get your raspberries back, but it will give the thief an uneasy day or two!

    Jane, You are too funny!

FBG, We are having a terrible time keeping the birds out of our berries this year. There is not moisture to speak of here and they are eating them all as soon as we turn our backs. We are putting fake snakes out and noise ribbon to deter them. So, I suppose it could be the wild life taking advantage of you, too.

That has to be heart-breaking. Not to mention infuriating. I guess it is possible that it was a varmint... but for everything to be eaten during the exact time no-one was home?

FBG--Your neighbor would DO THAT? I hope it is varmits and not a person, especially someone who lives near you. That is bizarre. Who does that?

Do you have deer in your area? I sure hope it wasn't a person, but you never know these days. There have been reports on our news of people stealing things like tomato plants right out of people's gardens around here. That's just strange.

Oh, dear, is nothing sacred anymore? :( What a lousy thing to do! I've seen roe dear pick gooseberries off mother's bushes, but I don't think they could have cleaned out a 40 foot hedge in such a short time span.

I hope your neighbour will have stomach ache for a week! At least!

Thanks all, I needed to vent a bit. It is obvious they were picked. Birds? Maybe a few. Deer? No sign of frayed stems which is typical of deer damage. I'll be posting no trespassing signs later today. I'm thinking of a way to rig the motion detector sprinkler/sprayer thingamabob up to a kool-aide dye bucket. That stuff just doesn't wash out, especially from hair.

I figure that it had to be a neighbor. Who else would know when no one was home? Next batch that is ready gets picked at dawn, before any other chore is attended.

Put a sign out that says "Smile, you're on Candid Camera". I actually did put a camera out my window to find out who was stealing my pumpkins off the front porch one year...then they didn't do it again. It was a little disappointing actually.
