Ok, all of you that are located in warmer areas than mine. I've joined the blooms club. This is a Helleborus. It's been blooming for about a week. Since I'm still struggling with my new camera I tried to photograph it with my mobile. The result isn't good, but at least you can see it's a bloom. I think... Helleborus in bloom jan. 12th ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Ehm...
Hi Droopy! Yea! A bloom for you! How lovely. The Helleborus always bloom early here too, although I don't have any in my garden (yet) It must warm your heart and give you hope! Winter will go away sooner or later!
Good morning Droopy, you've made it.... a bloom to show off, congratulations, I will make you feel better and tell you that where I live it is too hot to grow helleborus.
Here I am green with envy! Lucky you! The weather has been so crazy the hellebores in my yard haven't yet poked their heads out. I so miss their winter blooms. Even the heather is late to bloom ( both usually start blooming in December here). Enjoy, I am sure you will have a lot more blooms soon to show off looking at those stems. They look to be loaded with more blooms. can't wait to see more photos!
OK I'm jealous and don't mind admitting it!! My hellebores haven't shown signs of flowering yet BUT I do have snowdrops popping up everywhere so they're some consolation.
Cool Droopy, I don't have any and am glad to see someone actually does grow them. I have never seen one around here, although I am sure there must be some somewhere.
Cool one! I love helleborus. I only got the wild one I could find in our forests. Plain, greenish blooms but it's OK. I got one seedling from some traded seeds... I really wonder if it's gonna bloom this spring!
Good-looking Helleborus! Is spring really on the way up there now? Surely not. Well it is good to see the flower. It is a lovely colour. That telefoon camera works pretty good isn't it? It may be a bit early, but how nice to see the flower...it gives me hope for the future.
I'm very pleased. But I'm also worried. Frost's coming, and it's supposed to be hard frost too, so I guess my bloom(s) will be goners within a week. Our coldest month is usually February, and we might still get lots and lots of snow. I will enjoy my bloom(s) for as long as I've got them. Eileen, no snowdrops poking up yet. They're either wiser or more careful than the hellebore. Only three more months to go before I start believing in spring in earnest.
