What did you, your parents or even your grand parents do as kids for fun in the "old day's"?

My Dad always talked about him and one of his brothers going to town on their "train bike". The local railroad was a narrow guage road and they took the tires off of a bike. They built a frame that reached to the other rail and mounted a wheel on it. They took an old steel tractor seat and mounted it backwards on the side wheel. It was backwards so they could tell if a train was coming up behind them. Then the would ride the 5 miles to town.

We played outside games. Hide and seek, tag, red rover, soft ball, jump rope, climbed trees, but we also had a lot of "work" to do. We made fun of a lot of things. Inside, we worked picture puzzles, built things with wooden blocks. The girls had dolls and played "house. The boys had cars and trains and toy farms with animals and machinery. We never lacked for things to do. We had no television and only radio sometimes. We didn't have electricity until I was in second grade. There were kerosene lamps for light. My mom read to us every night before bed. I sure don't remember telling anyone we were bored. They would be sure to find us something to do.
I was in sixth grade before I learned to ride a bike and then it was a shared bike and first come, first serve so my brothers got to ride it more than we girls.
