Hi. I'm joining from my largish garden in Halfmoon Bay on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast. I've gardened on acreage on the other end of the Coast and in a number of boat-only remote locations as well. We even barged our entire garden off North Trail Island and into Halfmoon Bay one load at a time, way back in the day. My garden is pretty mature and I make use of strange found items and some purchased and repurposed pieces (building arbors out of cattle panel fencing, using conveyor belt for forming raised beds or decking base etc). I'm always looking for interesting ideas and ways to increase the efficiency and production of my very compact garden. I also write about my experiments on my own blog and document how I use tools and materials to create new uses and gardening methods and with a goal of being as self-sufficient as possible, somewhat of a lost art in this day and age. My blog is not just about gardening; I write about my previous life as a log salvager on BC's west coast - a 'beachcomber' - and about creating music and living in a small and political community. This time of year I mostly write about the garden I'm looking forward to getting to know people through the forums, exchange ideas and find some good blogs to follow. Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself.
Hi John, Welcome to GardenStew from Chelmsford MA. Your gardening sounds interesting. When you get settled, perhaps some garden pictures will appease our curious nature. There is something here for everyone, welcome aboard. Jerry
Welcome from Central Texas! We use cattle panels for almost everything except keeping cattle contained. They do make great trellises for the garden. Please post pictures if you can--we do enjoy seeing each other's gardens, and sharing tips and ideas.
Hello and welcome from SE Texas. Can't wait to see all the interesting things you have going in your garden.
John sending you a big welcome from Central Wisconsin. Sounds like you have quite and interesting life. I also love to make things for the garden out of found treasures that other might consider trash. I will be checking out your web page. Glad you found this divers and friendly gardening community.
