For the past 2 months, I have had a juvenile Baltimore Oriole feeding at the hummingbird feeder. I saw Mom feeding way back in June and never did see Dad at it. Well Jr. is growing and turning more orange almost every day. I am pretty sure it is a male. But not enough black on him yet to be positive. Every time I try to get a pic of him, he takes off just as I am ready to shoot. I have about 10 pics of an empty feeder. But I will keep trying. I wish I could find their nest. It is really an amazing thing. It hangs down from the tree like a sack. I even tried putting red pieces of yarn out in the yard, hoping they would grab them up for nest building. That would make them easier to find. But the yarn disappeared and still can't find it.

I'm visualizing Capt Kirk sneaking about in the bush, camera in hand, searching for nests now. :D Good luck with catching the shy fellow with your camera.

So pleased to hear that Junior is still around and is fit and healthy. I wonder what happened to dad though?

Back in the spring I saw both the male and female flying around the yard, but not since.
