Today I got an interesting letter in the mail! I have been called for Jury duty and at a very inconvenient time for me. I am to report for duty on April 9th and my plane ticket says I will fly to Arizona on April 10. I have served on jury duty 3 times but 15 years ago and I served twice one year and once the next year. I don't mind serving but does it have to be now! Wannabe

I do hope you can get out of it this time. That would be a shame to have to serve then.

Usually you can get it deferred to a later date since you already have the plane tickets, at least you can in Texas, don't know about other states.

    Hope it goes your way.
A few years back they seemed to call me for duty frequently,
happily they've left me alone lately ( hope I didn't just jinx myself)

If you must, you can get an MD to write an excuse for you. But usually plane tickets will do it.

I've been called twice but both times the person pleased guilty before it reached trial so I didn't have to attend.

I don't see why they wouldn't change it. I had to get it canceled the one time I was called bc of medical reasons and I had no problem at all.

Thanks for all your support. We are going down to the court house Monday. I am hoping they will let it go until the next time they need jurors and I will be happy to serve then. Wannabe

It depends, but if you have health problems they might excuse you anyway. Dooley

I took a written excuse from my Doctor to the circuit clerk's office on Monday. Today in the mail I received a letter excusing me from jury duty. I was releived to get it so I could visit the family in April. I would serve in August though if they call me. Wannabe
