Way cool Anna's Hummingbird, if you see him again grab a couple more pics! It's hard to get good pictures of these buggers.

If we have any real bird enthusiasts here, check out the Amazilia Hummingbird out of Peru.

Aren't they just the neatest things? Arizona had many, many varieties. Some even winter over. I've seen a few here in Texas. One even flew in the back door this summer. I had to throw a towel over it to catch it and take it back out. It flew away so I guess it wasn't too traumatized. dooley

 Hummingbirds are like small angels. Have never ever seen one for real in my life.

Another thing to put on my "must-see/do" list 8)

I don't know how you do it Sherry. They are adorable.

I was excited to see a hummingbird flitting around my yard Saturday. My neighbor said in the morning they fly between my house and another neighbor's house but I have never seen them... Hope I do soon!

I get a few every year. I swear that one comes back every year. Ruby Throated... and mean and greedy that guy is! Always chasing away the others. I haven't seen him much this year. But this little fella has been by every day. The red wasp were really terrorizing him... so we found their nests yesterday and eliminated them. Maybe a couple more hummers will come to visit and eat/drink since they won't have wasp trying to sting 'em!

Here's a "bad" photo of the Ruby Throat I got yesterday. As usual... he was terrorizing the others!
I'll try to get a better photo of him.

Here is an Anna's male I took last January. They are hardy little critters.

He looks so fat! I didn't think they stayed in cold weather. Great photo.

All of the hummingbird shots are so nice. I have to say that the hummers have just made my summer this year. Feeding them and watching them try to outwit each other at the feeders has just been fascinating to me. Those ruby throats are very territorial! I don't believe I've ever seen the Anna hummingbird around here. :stew2:
