Once again I think because our spring was so cold with very few bugs. This Flicker started showing up at our suet feeder. Kind of a primitive suet feeder but it works.
I always saw the Flickers eating ants in the grass, but never at the suet feeder. Well this male flicker is now a regular at the suet feeder. I love his colors. The red mark on the back of his head is in the shape of a Y.

Oh, That's a Gilded Flicker or Yellow Shafted Flicker, I think. They are in the Northern Midwest. Very nice bird. My friend has them at the suit all the time.

I love them all if they come to visit me. :p

I think they are a neat woodpecker also. This is the first for me at our feeders so I was thrilled.
