The garden centers are filling up with spring goodies. I got a new-to-me primrose.

Primula obconica, much bigger and different leaf structure than my other primroses ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden )

Couldn't resist the hostas because of the price or the fact that the names included 'fragrant' in them. Sounded like a win- win to me.

    I love spring planting :stew1:

Nice Jewell. Primrose are getting to be so different from the usual bright colors. I don't think I would have guessed it was that is you had asked for id.

My thoughts too Carolyn. I actually looked at it and thought geranium because of the shape of the leaves and the colour of the flowers.

I've never seen a Primrose like that ... It's beautiful! Is that Foxglove growing behind it? Another favorite of mine :)
And a garden CAN'T have too many Hosta's, especially fragrant ones ;)

Netty, Eileen and Carolyn, Yes, the primrose was quit a surprise to me too. When you touch the leaf you recognize it for what it is. Maybe they will have some left at payday. I really liked the soft pastels.

Netty there are a couple of foxgloves in that pot. I had to move a small bed as we determine walk ways. The volunteer foxglove made it into this pot. I may have to collect wild seed this summer with all the transitions taking place in the yard. Foxglove tend to come up between and at the edges of some of my pavers. They never grow where I would like them to.

Haha, Jewell, the foxglove only grows where it wants to. It's the same story here. We've got lovely foxgloves all over our gravel garden, but when I try to transplant seedlings into the borders they just die on me. I've decided to leave them where they want to grow from now on.

Those hostas and that Primula are very nice plants. Lucky you who get to plant anything. :D

That Primrose is certainly a goodie,..looking at it i also would have said Geranium,..however one has only to look at Geranium 'Rozanne',..Cranesbill Geranium,.. and people who don't garden find it hard to believe.

I am always thinking of getting a Hosta or two,..i must open my mouth when in company with those who want to reward me,..there are a few lol.

Droopy, it's nice to hear that foxgloves are persnickety other places too. Where many other places are having cold, our weather has been unusually mild this winter and spring. Limited rainfall and temps in the 40-50 F. range. We never get much warm weather and can have these temperatures almost year round, except for that one week in the summer it turns 80 F for about five minutes.

Phillip, how lucky to have friends who would reward you with plants. I'm too ornery so I don't get any rewards :( But I am also spoiled :-D so I get what I want  ;)

    So pretty!

My hostas did horribly last year. I think I need to move them.

I just remembered I've seen those in nurseries here, but I've never dared to buy one. Maybe I should. They're so pretty. :D

Very pretty, Jewell. What is the growing zone for this variety? I think I want to try some if they grow here.

Carolyn, A quick google said zones 10-12 or half hardy. Guess they are used for house plants. I'm guessing I'll have to treat it like a impatient or begonia. Seems like I am seeing more cold sensitive perennials treated like annuals.

Little sister, Netty and Droopy, I am afraid I have gotten more willing to buy perrenial plants and just enjoy them for the seasons they can make it on their own. not as willing to overwinter.
