Apparently I have no control when I walk into a Lowes or Home Depot. Anyway, I left with some good stuff. I got an heirloom tomato called 'Black Prince.' I'm going to place it with my other tomatoes which include 'Big Boy' tomatoes. I bought a Serrano Pepper and a Tobasco Pepper which will be placed with my Chili, Habanero, and Cayenne Peppers. I also bought a Japanese Eggplant, a Bee Balm, and a Salvia. I hope everything grows well and produces a good crop. I can't wait!

Yep... me too... hard to leave there without a basket full of goodies.
Hope everything grows well for you!

Sounds like the makings of salsa.

Oooh, lots of goodies! A Japanese eggplant? I can't imagine. Don't forget to tell how your heirloom tomato comes along. They're my favorites.

Walk by a display of plants and not have several jump in your basket? Impossible! Glad to see it happens to someone else, too.
If your Japanese eggplant is Ichiban, you've got a winner there. We grew them for years--easiest to grow, produce well, and can stand our Texas heat. I switched to Louisiana Long Green last year as an experiment, and found that we like the more tender skin of LLG better. Next year I think I'll plant both.

Marlingardiner, Is the LLG grown specifically for your area? I haven't heard of it nor seen it. I grew a few from burpees last year(because only a few germinated) and I put them out on my roadside stand, I had an oriental lady ask for the green ones every time she stopped. She said they are much better than the purple(sweeter, I think is what she said).

The eternal curse of the garden center effects us all and as yet I have not found a curse, but I think I might have a remedy, I've been trying to find a plant exchange group as yet no luck but i will keep trying.
It does sound like you got a few bargains and don't doubt that you will be repaid for your investment over the coming months.

Retailers put the attention getters in the front as you enter the store/center. Now you need a basket.....with just one item it looks empty. The rest is history.....Oh but it's so much fun....all those new items, just waiting to be planted or used.
Where did I put my shopping list, I just remembered another item. :)
