cactus I've been trying to ID this fast growing cactus. The pictures I've found of cactus with a similar growing habit do not have the same spine configuration. These spines are all in a line/row, four rows to a "tail". I really like it, and wonder what it is. Jewell
I dont know the name, but do like the style . Does it have jaggers or is it soft an hairy type. Unique for sure.. Happy hunting. barb
That is a lovely cactus Jewell and definitely a Aporoheliocerus of some sort. I'll have to check my book and see if I can find a match for you.
Hi there your plant is indeed a rat's tail cactus - Aporoheliocerus Roshana I think. Thanks to Netty I suddenly remembered seeing one in our botanical gardens a while ago. It was a massive three foot across and almost two foot high!!
Thanks, I really like it and now I know what it is! Appreciate the ID. Guess I will continue to take cuttings, and giving the parent plants away. Sounds like they get big. The one pictured is less than a year old, and started with 1-2 inch cuttings.
Jewell, Would you like to swap me in the spring for some of that one? I have many flowers.. House plants like several colors of christmas cactus, africian violets.Much more. YOurs is awesome. bali
Bali Send me a PM when the weather warms up and I'll send you some starts. I had a fairly good sized plant once before and they don't seem to like the cold (left it in the breezeway and the temp. went to 45 degrees F.-it died) Hard to believe all the plants (15+) I have started all originated with a broken off 2 inch piece I picked up in the parking lot of a local big box store.
