Kk, I see the report of the monstrous storm hitting the Philippines and is on its way towards Vietnam... Are you getting much of it? Stay safe.
I was thinking about him too. Last night I heard about this storm, it sounds like a very BAD one! Stay safe KK Ng!
Just heard on the news this storm is the strongest typhoon ever recorded with gusts up to 235km/hour (147 m/hour). The communication lines are down, so I doubt we will hear from him for a while.
I hope we hear from KK soon so that we can put our minds to rest. Let's hope that he and his family are all safe.
Depending on which part of Malaysia KK lives in, he could get some heavy rain from the outer edge of the typhoon or he could get nothing at all. The typhoon is heading due west from the Philippines to Vietnam which is about 1200 miles north of most of Malaysia. http://www.mapsofworld.com/malaysia/ Malaysia is the two green areas on this map. We do have an inactive member who lives in the Philippines, she hasn't posted in a few years, hope her beautiful gardens withstand the winds and rain.
Just saw the image from our own weather satellite (color infrared imagine as well as in black & white too). Here is the link: http://www.pmd.gov.pk/Subpage1/S_images ... image.html Storm really looks like a very bad one indeed. I have a friend in Indonesia too, so aside from KK, I hope that everyone else is safe too. Of course, if I was there - Then now would be the best time to get all my gear and camera equipment in check! And get ready to shoot and later upload another one of a kind video to my YouTube channel. As having a front row seat to something like this doesn't come everyday. So I hope KK isn't as stupid as me when it comes to being adventurous. On a personal note, the little bit I know about KK, is that he is a very responsible person by nature, and intelligent too. So when it comes to his own family's safety - KK will never compromise. Therefore no need to worry, as he is one very resourceful and resilient individual, who will always land on his feet!
S-H, My thought exactly...KK would NEVER compromise his families safety. I just can't imagine the scope of this storm. Is is such a huge one on the satellite image. According to the one story I read it was 1,150 mile across . That is almost 1/2 the distance from east coast to the west coast of the USA. 195 mph wind? what would stand up to that? Edited 2 hrs. later.... I have just been watching news updates for the Philippines and the devastation is horrible and sad. Many prayers for the people of this country.
My friend in Indonesia says that the weather has been terrible there for the past three weeks. I don't know how you all define terrible weather - But my Indonesian friend says that they define terrible weather with rapid and unpredictable change in a day. Like three hours of rain in the early morning, then it went sunny and hot around midday. But late in the afternoon, it rained again. This (I am told) happened a lot the past three weeks. And it is understandable because wet season is drawing near in that area. In January however, it will get worse... But as for KK, well, he (as I had mentioned before) is a highly resilient individual - Very well educated too, as well as having the capability to always land on his feet. My friend in Indonesia isn't too far on the map. So if she is doing fine - I am sure KK too is OK. Maybe only the communication lines have taken a hit , that is why KK isn't able to come here. Otherwise, I am sure that everything is alright. The storm too is now clearly heading for the coast of mainland China and Vietnam. So KK at least is out of danger now, as the worst is over for Malaysia. Sure, there will be plenty of rain in the next few days. But the cyclone bit is over.
The last time KK posted here was Oct 30,2013. He may have signed in or viewed here but hadn't posted. Very worried......
Malaysia is alright, (and so is Indonesia), but there are 1000s feared to have died because of this cyclone in the Philippines. See latest news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-24878801
