Here's my little koi pond that is right on my patio. Here's a closeup of the stuff you can see on the right. The walkway was made with one of the inexpensive walkway makers you buy at Lowes. The Carolina wren is nesting in the can.
Oh Bethie, what a stunning bit of paradise you have. I dream of a koi pond someday. What is your koi pond made from? Also, the walkway, did you use a mold or stones. We are getting ready to create one and I've been looking for ideas. I want one that looks natural. Yours is perfect! :-D Your garden is the garden of my dreams......
Bethie you have such a beautiful garden and your koi pond is lovely nestled there among your plants. I hope you can capture a photograph of the Carolina wrens' young as they leave the nest as I've never seen one.
Hummingbird this is an inexpensive 300 gallon plastic stock tank. The hubby cut cypress wood and pieced it to the shape of the tank. Eileen I'll try. I usually keep an eye on them so their first flight isn't into the pond! I have watering cans on all four posts and they have nested in all of them numerous times. We just love our "Wrennie's." Our yard is long and we have another pair nesting in a gourd in our garden shed. Hummingbird it's the garden of my dreams also. 8)
If the carolina Wren moves out of the watering can that would make a great fountain. Just place a 1/2 barrel or something below that can and run the water hose up the post.
