Our roses has taken off and are hurrying to bloom in the nice, warm weather. We haven't got many and stick to the old-fashioned pest-resistant types. First a song to put you in rose-mode: The roses. This is Rosa pimpinellifolia: Close-up with bumble bee: Rosa moyesii, mandarinrose. The rosehips are rather tasty: The dark pink old-fashioned rose was here when we moved in: The rose we call a carnation rose since it looks like a carnation: The white roses that are called Vickarage Rose, an old one with a heavenly scent: The newly opened ones are soft pink in the middle: No idea which rose this is, but its scent is raspberry-like: Our moss rose, "Cardinal de Richelieau" is the darkest we've got: I'm off outside now to smell the roses. Trallalalalalalatralallalalalatrala la vie en rose...
Oh I like, I like very much!! I have a few roses in bloom at the moment but the only one I remember the name of is my Iceberg. Your Cardinal de Richelieau is lovely Droopy but my favourite just has to be tht beautiful white one with the pink centre.
Thank you eileen. Those white ones are tough as nails and can live just about everywhere. They're a very old type.
What a nice posting, Droopy. I REALLY liked the Edith Piaf touch...very nice. I just listened and hummed-along as I looked at your pikkies. That second foto was so perplexing--it is either a small rose or a VERY large bumblebee. You have a good collection of very different roses. I wouldn't call your collection "small" though--I have one rose...that's what I call a "small collection". Ha ha ha Just teasing. As I said, they are all different and have individual qualities. The "Cardinal de Richelieu" brought back some memories. --A few years ago when I was looking for one rose that I could place in my flower garden, I went as far afield as GB and whilst strolling around the grounds of Peter Beals, I cupped the Cardinal de Richelieu and very strongly considered it. I almost got it that gorgeous thing. The "newly opened Vicarage Rose" is quite something to behold. It is very delicate-looking. Thanks for an unusual posting with delightful acoustics and varied roses--It spoke strongly to my romantic side.
Thanks for liking the roses. They suddenly took off and opened, but are early this year, like almost everything else. Sjoerd, it's a rather small rose, but also a rather big bumble bee, so you were right both ways.
