the soybean bugs. In the past in mid-October we always had huge amounts of Ladybugs or what some say are soybean beetles that would congregate on and in buildings and so forth to spend the winter. The soybean beetle was supposedly brought to the U.S. to combat Aphids on the soybeans. But then they got out of hand. The look just like Ladybugs. Well this year I haven't seen a single one. Since the field behind me isn't being farmed now, I hadn't thought much about it. But in talking to other people, they aren't seeing any either. Any ideas of what is going on?

koszta kid, :D :D Silly cat....

My daughter lived in a barn built in the 1780's. It was infested the first year with ladybugs. They were cute but they soon grew old. They were in everything.

In the end, we had to exterminate the place. We continued to buy her ladybug things to rub it in....It all was fun to do. Seemed like a harmless little bug.

Now I have a wonderful collection of ladybug things. Pillows, pens, flyswatters, rugs. I go all kind of things. She even painted her stools like ladybugs.

They must have done their job and were deported back to Asia.

The Asian Lady Beetle isn't a picky eater, it eats all species of aphids anywhere they find them. So no soybean crop, no reason to hang around.

It seems to me that there are fewer bugs around this year. I imagine they couldn't survive the drought we are having.
