Large shrub, deep pink double flowers Rose of Sharon like?

    Once again my son in Seattle has an ID request!
    This rather large shrub has flowers that look almost Rose of Sharonish but it is only Apri! Any ideas?

    I could be wrong, I looked at this earlier thinking it reminds me of something, but "what?" ....Camellia's maybe? anyone else else think so?

    I agree Carolyn. They started blooming about a month ago around here. Looks like some nice old specimens. They are common in pink and white also.

    Definitely one of the double forms of Camellia. They come in every colour except blue.

    Thanks Carolyn, Jewell and Calin and Palustris! I truly appreciate the help! Nothing like this blooming in northeast Ohio this early! (or in PA right, Barb!0 they are beautiful!
