Hi Philip, you still have a lot pf blooms going on. I love the looks of the huge bowl planter in the 3rd from the bottom. Can you post a closer picture of it. It looks like sedum or hens and chicks?, thanks. Carolyn
Hi Carolyn, i have to admit it did look like Hens and Chicks,..but up close as you can see its Saxifragra hypnoides 'Densa',..but i did take some shots yesterday of the Hens and Chicks,..getting bigger,..you remarked on the colour some time ago. Cool! thanks. It does look deceptively like hens and chicks in the earlier pic. The hens and chicks are a really pretty pink aren't they?
Loads of fabulous blooms still showing in all corners of your garden. I enjoyed the stroll around today.
Philip, It seems your garden still has plenty of color in the last days of August. What is the pretty orange flower in the beginning pics?
Philip you always keep us oooohing and ahhhhing at your garden pic's. They are wonderful. I like the pot of what looks like Sedum Angelia. I have that in my garden and love the yellowish green the leaves are.
OK now your just showing off Philip!! You, obviously, have the greenest of fingers and your garden just goes to prove it. Most of the flowers in my own garden have succumbed to autumn already(apart from my roses and heathers) which I always find a tad depressing. However, I have yours to look at which is a nice bonus. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they keep flowering for a good while yet.
Hi Carolyn, as you remarked some time ago those Hens and Chicks do have a great pinkish colour,..i really should try to get some other varieties for contrast,..though i have started off new ones,..sooo slow to grow. Taken today. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ---------------------------------------------------- Hi Bernieh, glad you enjoyed the stroll,..i would prefer the tropical look of your garden to stroll around,..which reminds me do you have Brugmansia in your garden?,..i started some,..but as the seed takes so long to start,..and the plant is growing so slow,..it won't flower this season,..in fact it will hardly survive our winter from what i know about it. Brugmansia,'Datura metel'. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ---------------------------------------------------- Hi Kay, yes there are lots of flowers in bloom here,..some will remain up to the first frost,..others will survive up to the snow,..lets hope that will stay away for longer this year. That pretty orange flower is Crocosmia,..there is a redder version plus a chocolate version,..i have seen the latter growing wild. Crocosmia. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) --------------------------------------------------- Hi Tooty2shoes, lol,..ooohing and ahhhing at my garden pictures,..now that keeps me posting. At a distance Carolyn thought that pot contained "Hens and Chicks",..and you thought "Sedum Angelia",..at a distance it looks like either,..but no its "Saxifraga hypnoides,'Densa',..i have three pots of this species each looks slightly different due to its position in the garden,..sunny or shaded,..or part shaded. Exposed position. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Close up. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Semi Shade position. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Shade position, in 2 Ft container. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Close up. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) The one grown in shade looks greener,..but as from this week it goes out into an exposed area as strong sunny days are over. ---------------------------------------------------- Hi Eileen, very few people get into my house,..and even less into the garden,..unless they are gardeners,..so i have to show off on line,..lol. Having green fingers is true,..i guess i am lucky there,..plus i am in an Irish Hardiness Zone 8,..right in the middle of the country,..all outside this area are Zone 9,..be they North,South,East or West,..am i correct in thinking you are Zone 7,..i know you have Zones 8 and 9 in Scotland as well. Taken within the hour. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ---------------------------------------------------- Hi SongofJoy57, just as i submitted i spotted your post,..and thank you!,..some Sweet Pea among the roses. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
Hi Deanna, but a little less after today!,..in the picture below you should be able to see a rambling rose bush with lots of pink roses,..on the right side of the picture,..but no,..i gave it a VERY heavy pruning,..the first in years,..mostly due to it being close to the wall and our damp weather,..therefore prone to Milldew,..so the haircut should improve the situation for some time to come. Your hen & chicks are quite lovely! :-D This is not hen & chicks, nor is it mine but it is a succulent of some kind~ The Beautiful Kind! This thing is HUGE!!! ( photo / image / picture from stratsmom's Garden ) Becky's amazing succulents!!!
