This year can not get it to stop. Not bad here-but along Waspsi River. Those poor people. Another 4-6 inches of rain last night. Bracing for record flood. River was 6 feet at 4am---going to rise to 20+++ by 1pm. River divides Independence -so putting fire and police on both sides. Sand bagging like crazy.

What a shame--to face all that danger and disruption. You stay high and dry--we can't do without our Koszta Kid!

I'm find here-so far. They did get lot of rain up stream on Iowa River in Tama. So it come down our way in week. Our county just fixed gravel road-that turned to mud. that was a month ago.

Stay high and dry or get to someplace higher if needed.

You could send some of that rain down to north and west Texas. We have been praying for rain for 10+ years now. We get little bits but nothing drought ending.

I read a news article a few days ago, that the huge underground aquifers which run from Canada to Mexico and that keep the midwest watered are being depleted far faster than nature can replenish them just to grow corn for biofuel, which takes several thousand gallons of water to grow 1 bushel of corn. That corn is needed for food, but is being made into biofuel instead by stupidity.

I am sorry you all have flooding, BUT glad the aquifers are at least getting some help to refill. I wouldnt mind more rain here in southern Missouri, because even though we had generous rains this winter and spring, it is now bone dry again. We can go from flooded to drought in just a few weeks here.

All the $$$ spent on wars. Every river in USA could have levees . Seen people taking belonging from basement from floods last weekend. I wouldn't have a finish basement.

It is a shame Connie. I agree. They could also have canals connecting the rivers to divert flood waters to places that are having drought. It is do-able if the powers that be thought more of the people they serve than their own pocket books.

Coming from the midwest (Iowa) where we were in severe drought last summer,I agree with Nightowl & Connie.Headline in our local paper a few days ago,If you liked the drought of last summer & floods this year you will be happy because this is what we are in for from now on due to climate change.Fortunately we are high & dry & in no danger of flooding but not far away, not so much.
I've heard it said that water will be our most precious commodity & I think it may be sooner than we think.

The towns up stream didn't flood as bad as they thought. But still very high.. farmers around here -praying. That the rivers don't take 2nd planting.
And in just at U of Iowa-in 08 $180 million damage. people said levee should cut off view of Cedar river. Helped up stream -shovel mud out of a nice house. And gut it. The view was not pretty. billions of damage in Cedar Rapids
