Hot Cocoa bud ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) This stem actually has 3 or 4 buds on it! Iris bud ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) These guys are getting run over by Rudbeckia and daylilies so Im going to move them more towards the front of the bed. When I planted them I wasnt thinking and just stuck em in the first open spot I saw Cranberry Ice Dianthus ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) Moonshine Yarrow ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) Caradonna Salvia ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) Butterfly Blue Scabiosa ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) annual Aster ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) I was trying to decide if I had enough room between the 2 Scabiosas for another one, but Im not sure I do...so I may move the border later and put in a 3rd. The border is actually not straight with the sidewalk since it (the walk) curves. ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) BJ got very excited about seeing the birdies *lol* BJ ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) The way you can tell the difference between male and female robins is the color of their head. Females have a grey/dark grey head while males have a black head Sometimes it can be heard to tell if you only see one or the other, but if you see a male and female next to each other you can see the different colors American Robin male ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden )
What lovely flowers! Don't you allow weeds ? BJ is very decorative. I've never seen a cat window suncatcher before!
I think BJ is admiring the work you've done in the garden as well as all those beautiful flowers. :-D There again he might have decided to do some upper body exercises while watching the birds.
Very nice group of pics this time, Bipper. It was nice to see what all you now have in bloom as well as a couple of animal foto's. That cat looks really excited to see the birds outside. My cats do that too. Sometimes they sit like a loaf of bread on the back of a chair and make this peculiar "klakking"-sound with their mouths sort of locked open. But those flowers are so nice to see, especially since I have so few in bloom here at the moment. The blue scabiosa is one of my favourite flowering plants. It is a pity that they do not survive the winters here. I have grown several colours of the scabiosa's and I like them all. Those little asters look pretty cute lining the border of the plot. I have never seen them uses as a border--you know--in a row like you are doing. It looks pretty nice, I must say. The Dianthus looks like it is doing well in spite of being a bit crowded by the surrounding plants. I hope that you can find a place for it. They are such nice border plants. Isn't that Salvia looking well! I really do like Salvia's although I look for ones that bloom later in the year because of our late-ish springs and severe winters here. Yours is doing so well. Well, I guess that you are well chuffed with how your plants are doing so far. Thanks for the nice posting.
Thanks everyone I think Beej is thrilled with all the birds he can see here and all the different windows to see them from. At the apartment he only had 3 windows that all faced the same direction so there wasn't near as much wildlife he could chatter at ^_^ The chattering is amusing at first but it can get annoying quite fast and I keep telling him to shut it, but he doesn't listen *lol* I had never had annual asters before, I picked them up at a temp nursery (they set up a tent in a parking lot every year) because they were so cute I love the scent of the Dianthus, and they tend to rebloom, although not nearly as well as they do in the spring
Well done Jen,..a beautiful display of flowers,..of course the rose stopped me in my tracks,..its a beauty,..lol at the state of BJ,..doing dips and presses to build up the muscles,.. .
