Went to the dr yesterday, for an eval on my broke finger. Was hoping to get released for work. Suddenly, he says that he will set an appt with Ortho! Why he didn't do that 2 wks ago! :-? Then he tried to tell me that I should have called them to initiate the process! WRONG! I'm not the dr. I can see his point (trying to cover himself), but give me a break! (No pun intended) That's what we pay him for, is it not? There again, I forgot that I'm DEALING W/THE GOVERNMENT! They have a tendency to do things at their own pace. The V/A called this morn, and told I was scheduled 2 wks after my ER. No calls, letters, or any notice-Imagine that! After about 30 mins, I worked them into scheduling an appt, AND LETTING ME KNOW!, the first of next wk. The biggest letdown was not being able to get back to work. I enjoy my job (produce dept in Kroger) and the people I work with storewide. Having to tell upper mgmnt I was going to be off another month was not cool, but they understand, and are eager for me to return, whatever the time frame 8) This is a job that I thoroughly enjoy, (ex-mechanic), and really don't want the screws put to it. I just have to keep one thing in mind, and this will hit home with all military people, HURRY UP AND WAIT! It' nothing but a thing! Have a wonderful day all, and keep your head high! dmullins
Mulli..I know exatly how you feel (sort of) I get awsome care at my VA (surprise) but I am now impatiently waiting for a decision about if I am going to get accepted as an intern/volunteer to possibly get hired on for a full time job. Have you thought about AMA? I am notorious for that.. If I know I can do my job I go Against Medical Advice and let them work on the stupid poop.. (but patience is not on my list of virtures) Don't know how broke your finger is..but if you think you can do your job with minimal discomfort.... but I also have an insane tolerance for pain... and get very restless..
Oh heck you must be feeling a bit down at the moment. You were so hopeful that the doctor would allow you to get back to work. Best take their advice though and stay off until you're completely mended or you could do more damage and you certainly wouldn't want that. Try to be a patient patient and look after yourself until they think you're fit for doing your job again.
