First the Pileated comes, so I take out the suet mix and push some in a tree branch, then the Stellar jay arrives so I take it some peanuts. I cropped the picture so it is not good composition.

What a stunning photo! Composition? Who cares? Very few of us would have the opportunity to take that shot. You have a wonderful wildlife habitat. Thank you for posting!
We have red-bellied woodpeckers here on the farm. They love our black oil sunflower seed! No jays of any sort, though. I think they are more an urban bird around here.

I seem to be feeding all the fledgling Blue Tits in our area at the moment!! There are at least two dozen that visit my garden daily looking for food. I supply them with peanuts, nyger seeds, sunflower hearts, fat balls and fat cake and mealworms. I think it's important that we feed our birds all year round as it not only gives us great photographic opportunities but it helps us to see what species have increased/decreased from previous years.
I'm happy to see that your birds appreciate the food you put out for them too Kildale. :-D
