I have a ton of old apple boxes that I want to plant some bush type vegetables in this year. What do you recommend lining them with. I was thinking maybe the landscape fabric that you put down for weed barrier. Will that allow the water to drain out, which I guess is good and bad, becuase I'll be watering them a lot in that case. But if you have any better ideas, I would appreciate it.

I use any old knitted jumpers or cardigans that are past their best. If I don't have any then charity shops will usually give you ones that aren't any good for selling at a very reasonable price. I know it sounds daft but they really do make excellent liners for planters, baskets and boxes. I cut them to fit and they look very pretty (especially brightly coloured ones in hanging baskets) and they allow the water to drain freely. :stew2:
