I was thrilled and surprised to go to my garden yesterday and see this little friend. He is a male (the females are brown) Eastern Tailed Blue. They are a beautiful little animated butterfly. I was thrilled when he opened his wings. I grow lots of his food plant, vetches and clovers. I had never seen this tiny, one inch from wingtip to wingtip, fellow up so close and personal.
Beautiful Bethie. Flying works of art. I like the colours its wings are projecting in the last photo, like the colours you see when oil is on the surface of water.
Smashing photographs Bethie - especially the third and fourth ones. I take it that the orange on the wings is to deter preditors and make them think that the markings are actually the eyes of the butterfly?
Beautiful pictures Bethie. Butterflies are so delicate looking and all so different. Thanks for sharing.
