Let us hope this is the last snow for the winter. A little hard on me as I have to keep up with the bird feeding, but I will survive. A chickadee for today.

With snow about, you have to make sure you feed the birds.

We feed birds all year around. In the spring and early summer, they are nesting and feeding young, and can use the extra help. In autumn and early winter, the migrants stop by for a bite to eat. Then in winter, we have the "stay-grants" who come to central Texas to pass late December and into February, and perhaps even longer. We welcome, and feed, them all!

Like Jane I feed the birds all year round too. I look forward to the summer and winter visitors and would miss them if I didn't have a garden.

    • I've been gone for a couple of days and came home to frozen hummingbird feeders and one poor guy seemingly licking the frozen nectar!!! Have the feeders inside now thawing out and will get them hung back out asap. Usually I bring them in at night and back out daytime. Poor guys gotta be hungry!
