I was fortunate enough to visit London twice. I just love that city! Wonder why I didn't put Kew Gardens on my list of places to visit??

    Hi Cheryl,
delighted you managed the visit,..and twice!,..that's more than some people who live in other parts of England,..its a very interesting place soooo old and visiting the historical places is a must and an enjoyable experience,..as for Kew Gardens,..its sort of off the beaten track yet in London perhaps that's why you didn't include it.

Great photographs Philip. :D Did you go to Richmond Park by any chance whie you were in London? I've been there a couple of times and it's well worth a visit. They have deer herds, Green, Great Spotted and Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers as well as Ring Necked Parakeets to name just a few species. A really lovely expanse to walk or drive through.

Thank you so much! What lovely photos, I live that they care so much about the badgers.

Did you enjoy the opening ceremony? We were in awe.

    Hi Lynn,
it was spectacular,..you never knew what was coming next,..the well known actors and sports people,..not forgetting James Bond and the Queen in the helicopter, :D,..made it all the more interesting,..seeing London so much with the games encouraged me to start this post,..i keep trying to work out for instance where the cycle racers were,..just part of the fun as well,..glad you enjoyed the pictures.

The Badgers are well protected in Kew Gardens,.. thankfully,..i think they are a lovely creature,..of course they are known to raid chicken pens but not as bad as the Mink we have here,..they break in and kill all.

I need to visit London again soon, it's been too many years since I was there. I've done a few of the compulsory sights, but several are still on my to-do-list.

    Hi Droopy,
i would love to be there just for the Olympic Games but to try touring around would be madness with so many other people doing the same.

Yep,..you will have to make a visit when the crowds go home.

I would love to visit London and Scotland and Ireland and Iceland and Denmark and Norway but every year we stay with my Mother in Law....... and Father in Law... he was nice to me once, right after his stroke but then he recovered! oops, I digress (vacation at in-laws in 3 weeks)

DH spent a summer in London working at some Theater while he was in art school. Apparently, he only remembers lots of Guinness and bangers and mash... so I guess he should have gone to Ireland.

I have had four trips to Europe fall through, but I am determined!

to paraphrase Blanche: I have always depended on the kindness of strangers and their wonderful pictures!

    thank you Philip!

    Hi CrisGzr,
many people have dreams of going abroad or doing something outside the box but something holds them back,..i know in my own case i get angry with myself for not doing what i long for so i tend to wake up one morning and just do it,..much to everyone's surprise,..but i admit its easier for me i only have the pets to work around.

As for In Laws,..always like walking on eggs, .

Such lovely memories you brought back, Philip--thanks for the tour! When I see European cities I always hope our US cities age as well (unlikely, but I can hope).
Cris, you visit your in-laws? No, no, that is not the way to spend a vacation. Either they move to someplace interesting so you can sight-see all day, or you can pretend to come down with a highly contagious disease and need to consult European doctors!
