A fowl yard breakout. Do you know who they belong to?

They belong next door. It's been fun watching the owners chase them all morning.

Last Sunday Texas Country Reporter had a story about 'the Chicken Lady' at first I thought they found Jane? But this lady lives in Bellville, Tx. She has dozens of chickens and when she needs to catch one she uses a big fishing net, like is used to bring fish into the boat so they don't break the line. She anticipates their run path and gently swoops them up.

Are you sure that's not Jane?

Not me! My hens come when called. I train them from chicks to come to a soft "kissy" sound. They know that means goodies, and they all come running as fast as their little chicken feet will carry them.
My husband laughs when I go out and all the ladies gather around, expecting treats!
Donna, have you ever heard the expression "finders, keepers"? By the way, those are handsome chickens!

How nice of the neighbors to send the hens over to eat the bugs in your yard! I wish finders keepers rule worked for farm animals ... I would have owned 3 horses, a cow and a goat by now! :)

Donna S, Maybe the chickens thought that the grass was greener in your yard...

Those look like free range chickens, if they are on my range they are free!

Oh my--I wish that I could keep chooks here. They are delightful beasts and make such funny little sounds. They also keep the pest-bug population down.
    Do they cruise through often?

They are in my front yard every day. Found their way to back yard yesterday. Told neighbor it was ok, they can eat all the bugs they want, but he took them home.

I think the hens prefer your garden Donna. What a pity your neighbour took them away. Still at least they will have eaten lots of bugs while they visited you. :-D

Netty, be thankful that finders keepers doesn't apply. Let them pay the hay bill.

Donna, what a nice picture. Anything to eat the bugs! Call your neighbor an tell him you are having a hen party and they need to come :-D .
