It was really windy yesterday and I was looking out the door. A tree in our neighbors yard blew down. I noticed this little bird on the fence post. I hurried and got the camera but I had trouble focusing it in the wind and the bird had trouble staying on the post.

I know the wind blew him into the yard because I haven't seen him here before and he wasn't around today.

You both did a good job in all that wind.
We get a few blue birds here, but not all that often.

Calin, that birds color is for real. They are the prettiest shade of blue imaginable. The other incredible color of a bird here is the Indigo Bunting. Both are amazing. I have only seen the Indigo bunting a few times. I just about cry if one of the cats gets a bluebird. Of all the prey the cats bring in, its the only one I "scold" them for. :'(

Bluebirds not only are an incredible shade of blue, they have soft orange breasts, making them a very colorful bird.
We have bluebird nest boxes in the pasture. Bluebirds are picky--their nest needs to be a certain height; it needs to face an open field or area without trees; and there needs to be brush or trees behind the box. So far they haven't demanded carpeting!
We cleaned the boxes last month and are keeping an eye on them to see if they are occupied.

Jane... I didn't know all of that about their houses.
I'm going to face the house in the other direction. Maybe they will come then.

We had winds 40-60 miles per hour all day Sunday and nothing that beautiful blew into my yard. We don't have them in my part of north central Texas :'( but just about 1.5 hours south of us they visit my mother-in-laws feeders and the Indigo Bunting too.
