My big guy needs to drop some weight.I have hid or given away all cookies, etc.Doc said our home BP wasn't reading right. His was high yesterday. And wants him to drop at least 30#.In summer he walks the dogs at least 2 miles.Walks some in winter. NO room for treadmill- and no close by gym. Will be down the road. Guy just getting it going. Can't lift weights-torn shoulder.
I've lost about 30# over the last year and a half by giving up breads and sugar. Everything else I cook is the same as usual, I just eat smaller portions and if I get hungry again between meals I drink a glass of milk. When you have to give up foods you really like, the craving will overwhelm your will power to stick with a diet. That's when diets fail and you gain more weight. He should have one day a week to eat some of the goodies he has given up...not a whole bag of cookies but he can make one package last at least a month by allowing himself to eat 3-4 on that one day. On that one day he can have gravy on his potatoes or toast with breakfast. That one day a week of treating yourself will be something to look forward to and make sticking with a diet soooo much easier. Walking and cutting out a few damaging food items will do a lot more to help him drop the weight than working out in a gym.
He retired 3 years ago. Does work with me a couple of days. Was cutting firewood. Then suffer in pain with shoulder. And he walks dog.got his yak-traks Got my wok out making stir fry.But he's a snacker. So have oranges pealed in frig.
I like the "ones" you can buy in the produce department. I think they are dried plums. Don't eat too many though I also like the little string cheeses for a snack or a hard boiled egg
I just wish it was summer time. Can get full from the garden things. But got got weight watcher cook book out. And had one can't find it.It was Opraha private cooks. But lot of things can't afford
