Had a walk along the lagoon today. Saw an Osprey, eagle, oyster catchers, killdeer, dunlins, lots of geese as they aren't flying yet and of course loads of gulls. Didn't take a picture of the killdeer as I have so many but did try for the others.

What a wonderful photograph of the osprey as it's quite rare to see a shot from below like that. Our oystercatchers have young at the moment but the chicks are really hard to spot and I worry I may step on them so don't go near the breeding grounds.

I'm not familiar with coastal birds as we live inland but, thanks to your pictures, I'm slowly learning a bit more. When you post a bird I haven't heard of, I look it up and find out more about it. We're going to the Oregon coast in September and I'm going to get a book and see how many birds I see.
Don't expect pictures as I take lousy photo's.

Those are all exceptional photos. Can't pick a favorite, but if I did it would probably be the killdeer. The scenery around them is like an oil painting by the masters.

Sorry to say this Jewell, but I think you have mistaken the two Dunlins for Killdeers. This is a Killdeer.
