We don't have (normal) rains .Once it starts rains for days. Some places 6 inches in 6 hours. Got toad stools every place. Iowa City bracing if water goes over spillway. Had Billion $$$$$-in 08. Go see if I can get out of town. Seen cars turn around. Might have day off.

I remember the 2008 flood stories in Iowa City. Hoping you don't see that again. I noticed the university is preparing a bit better this time. Those HESCO barriers work great, that's what OPPD used around the nuclear power plant when son was working there. Are you in the Dubuque Street area that is prone to flood? Be safe!

Sounds awful again! so sad and sorry to hear it is possible again. We are on the extreme dry end of May. I don't think we have had rain more than twice this month...a little worried, I am. There doesn't seem to be a lot of balance with the weather pattern, does there?

We are getting soaked here in eastern Nebraska too. There are flood watches. A lot of ponds and creeks are out of their banks, but it isn't what Iowa is experiencing. Guess it's one way to end a drought! We sure need to replenish our ground water here.
Koszta, get to high ground and take care!

We have picked things up. Got more rain last night So Iowa River still up . Many of the bridges over It closed. Our house longer away from the river. Had Koszta on local tv. One guy who has Parkington disease planting more peppers. His Walker close by. Called customer didn't want to wade through water to get to our cars and truck. Go check basement .Got extra sump-pump just incase one burns out. Some places north of us got 3 inches last night. Wish it would go to places who need it

Keep safe Connie. I hope you own a rowboat or canoe by now, just in case you need it. I would if I lived up there.

Allegedly, we are under a flash flood watch here, but we have barely had a 1/2 inch of rain today and it takes far more than that to flood this area out.

We have 2 john boats and v bottom. Cleaned out older chest freezer .Unpluugged it. Put on blocks.old time cellar some water. But sump-pumps able to keep up. will mop with bleach and spray walls. and wipe down. some places got 2-3 inches again. last year couldn't buy a good rain. Some farmer never got anything planted.
