Sometime within the next week, I might attempt to make cottage cheese at home, (will post pictures over here when I'll be successful). I have never this at home, so I'm just going to be following the instructions in this video below. If anybody over here has any experience with making cottage cheese at home - I'd love to hear from you.
My grandmother made her own cottage cheese, there was almost always a bag of it hanging from the kitchen sink faucet...draining and aging I think. There was a jar under the bag to catch the whey, my granddad drank that but wouldn't eat the cheese.
My mother made her own cottage cheese but we had cows to milk ! I have been looking at making my own sour cream but need heavy cream for that and right now havent been to the market recently ! Sold out of yeast so tomorrow will begin a sourdough starter for bread ! Should be interesting ! I sometimes use cottage cheese instead of cream cheese for cheesecake ! Depends on which one I have !
Yes I too have heard people say that this water has nutritional value. Therefore do not discard, rather use it in the vegetable patch. Of course, drinking it can be beneficial too. I wonder what would happen if we tried making cheese sticks out of cottage cheese?
I make my own cottage cheese, I haven't made it pickled or spicy but I like mine with fresh fruit. I also make my own yogurt. Just be sure you don't get ultra-pasteurized milk, it won't curdle. I would like to try making mozzarella.
I use the liquid in my bread. I was kinda sluffing off making my bread. I would send my granddaughter to school with anything but a sandwich. Now I have no excuse, so I make a couple loaves a week.
Home made yogurt with fresh fruit,, exceptional and easy for a beginner ! But I do add a bit of sweetener !
