I made the rounds of my "cookie recipients" today. Folks at the local hardware store, feed store, bank, library, fix-it place have all made my life so much easier and pleasant all year long, that I like to take them cookies on holidays. Five different types of cookies, 2 1/2 dozen per plate to each place. I love this time of year--I get to bake to my heart's content! Half the town has cookie crumbs on their face, and smiles too, I hope! I don't know how or why the tradition of giving cookies at Christmas started, but I'd sure like to hug the person who came up with it.
I can just picture your whole town smiling when you showed up with cookies. Did they have the Red Gate "brand" on them? :-D Way to go!
Very nice way to show your appreciation for all the little services given all year. Sometimes they do such little things that we overlook it. You are a very nice and thoughtful person tp do such a thing. Most wouldn't even thing of that. Glad you are a Stewer....marlingardener.
Y'all are too kind and have 'way too high an opinion of me . As I said, I love to bake so I get more enjoyment out of baking the cookies than others do eating them! Cheryl, in the middle of each plate is a large sugar cookie with an icing red gate on it. My decorating skills are minimal, but it is a recognizable gate. I made honey wafers for the first time this year, using some of our honey. At the hairdressers' shop, those were the ones that went first! It was definitely the quality of the honey used . . . .
