Here is a great story I ran across today. After seeing what we grew up with for school lunches compared to what is served today I applaud this effort. I hope it is something that carries over into their home lives if there isn't this influence on them now.http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/02/2...ncludes-family-style-eating-to-boost-manners/
Wonderful idea, and there certainly is a need for better nutrition in school meals, and a dose of manners on the side. When a friend and I were teaching "cooking on a budget" classes for local food pantry patrons, we always served the food they had cooked at the end of class. After the first class, we asked if our folks would like a short course on table manners, also. We started with "your food is your friend, not your foe, and your fork is not a weapon used to subdue it!" Imagine how surprised they were to learn that good table manners added to the enjoyment of the meal!
Yes that is a great idea. It figures it was at a charter school. Not sure it would fly with the public school system. But it is a great idea and so much more healthy.
