I have been watching this one for a few days and another one the same color that will open in a few days. All of these bearded Iris were bought and planted so long ago that I have no idea if I bought a mixed bag of colors or if they were all supposed to be purple. The bud looked black when it first started showing, then yesterday I could tell it was going to be a dark maroon.

They all appear to be coming to the end of their bloom cycle for this year, now I will have a hard time being patient until next year to see what colors bloom.

Really beautiful Toni. What an amazing colour. :-D My flag iris (in the pond) and my beardies have yet to flower. All the miniature iris are long gone sadly.

Wow, amazing colour! I have been given a load of iris from a garden where they didn't thrive. I have no idea what colour they will be, but I don't expect they will look that good for a couple of years yet.

Oohhh, I've never seen one that color...that's gorgeous Toni.
On my way home from work one day last summer, I found 2 boxes of Iris rhizomes with "free take me" on them at the end of someones driveway! Well let me tell you I hit the brakes and put those boxes in my trunk so quick! I shared some with friends and planted the rest up around the yard. I can't wait to see what color they are!

What a unique color Toni - don't think I have ever seen one quite like it. Thanks for sharing.
