Last night was the last night that the kids were here with us. We started a fire in the fire pit, and accomplished several things. Mimi has been getting a lot of orders from the catalogs and there has been a steadily increasing amount of cardboard boxes growing out back, and the kids wanted to roast marshmallows. So we took care of a couple things in one action. I got the fire started and piled on the cardboard, and a couple logs. The kids loved the roaring fire and burned, melted, dropped on the ground, got stuck on their hands and other places, dropped into the fire, and even ate a few, marshmallows. In all it was a good last night together. A week can sure fly by. As the echoes of the kids voices fade away and the house again becomes the quiet and peaceful place we have become accustomed to, we start to plan for their next trip here.
Tom, that looks like so much fun. I am sure you enjoyed it as much as the kids did! Thanks for sharing the great pics.
Now that brings back a few memories Tom. My sisters and myself used to toast marshmallows. on a metal toasting fork, over the coal fire. I still remember the taste of them despite the burned mouth I had at the end of the eating sessions. There's just nothing like a charcoaled, on the outside and squidgy on the inside, marshmallow is there?
