Got em planted this morning. This year I went with full sized Roma's. I was going to plant them last year, but couldn't find any anywhere. I got these at Home Depot. The lady said that the Roma is the most popular type they sell.

Romas make the best sauce because there isn't so much juice and seeds.

Isn't that cold front moving east? I think you are in Ohio Kirk ? Here in Missouri, we had SNOW this morning. I bought some beefsteak maters yesterday, but they are still indoors just to be safe. It has been in the 30s all day here, and cold cold rain. My petunias are still indoors too...

Now, my taters are in the ground finally. I need to do more digging, and get things ready to plant my corn and beans, and some odd looking melons. My son got it at the store, it is about like a football and bright yellow. It didnt look tasty to me though.

I've been setting mine out one or two a day, as energy permits. I have 2 left and a few peppers, all in containers. Let it warm a little more and I'll put in a couple plants of yellow squash and zuc, plus a couple bush cukes.

Frost free date here is May 15th or Mothers Day. I checked the 10 day forecast and no low temps below 50F, so in they went!

I saw the same weather forecast, too. No cold below 50 so ours are going in today if we can get the plastic and drip tape down, right now it is a little breezy and cool. Hopefully we can get at least 30 in today and 30 next week or maybe even the rest of the 250 that need to get planted.

I did get a dwarf project in the ground this week. there were about 20 of those. It is a tomato project for dwarf tomatoes and it looks to be a really interesting summer growing those this year. One is a green when ripe and the other I think is a yellow tomato...

Cabbage? Check. Kale? Check. Kolhrabi? Check. Onions? Check. Beets? Check. 3rd Rhubarb? Check. Dill? Check. Flat Italian parsley? Check. Garlic and horseradish look very good.

Today, Beefsteak and Amish Paste 'maters. Kentucky Dreamer bush beans, Cayenne, Pepperocini, Anaheim, Serrano, Jalapeno, and California Sweet Bell peppers.

Grass mowed, raspberries tended, new potato bed started, are on the wishlist.

At least half of the tomatoes we plant are roma's or at least plum tomatoes. I like them sliced or sauced! I think they ar ethe most versatile. But I have to have at least one plant with thick beefy red maters!

Our peas are up and we just put up the fence. I think it will be a while til we harvest them. we had lettuce, too. Tomatoes in the greenhouse are green, though.

Frost free date here is APRIL 18th... Yeah, WELL. We got snow and 33' here MAY 3rd. I think they call it an "average last frost date" to get off the hook for screwy weather like we have. I heard that some parts of MISSOURI had 13 inches of the fluffy stuff yesterday! And still flurries today! Our "forecast" was for 41 Thursday night. So much for accuracy. I am still waiting for my blackberries to BLOOM. Usually, the LAST cold snap for this area comes when they bloom.
