I bet you were all thinking, 'what! Not another animal?!'

Meet Bill, our new allotment scarecrow.

Firstly, get some hay, old clothes, and scrap lumber and piping found in most peoples garages and out buildlings.

Now make a frame using some old timber and a piece of plastic water pipe.

Next, attach a large bucket with holes drilled in the bottom for a head.

From here, cover the poor chaps modesty and start getting him dressed.

Trousers are a must, but be sure to stuff them well with hay.

Finally, give the poor old boy his handsome features, and let me introduce you to Bill.

The children dressed him and gave him his face. The bucket head will be filled with compost and I will plant a couple of tumbling tomatoes in it for hair. Mark drilled a hole at the end of each arm and instead of gloves as hands, we have hung some jingly bells to make a noise to put off the deer. We have also done some research and apparently deer are repelled by the smell of mint and moth balls, so we have a large hook under Bills chin from which we will hang a groovy scarf full of smelly wadding soaked in peppermint oil. Hopefully he will deter the deer, birds, and anything else which attempts to make a meal of my goodies. :)

What a handsome chap Bill is! I've never heard of Mint and Mothballs repelling deer so I may have to try that. Soap worked for me last year so I was thinking hanging soap all over mine. Do let us know if it works EJ.

Bill is a nice looking chap.
Hope he works well on the crows and deer, I know peppermint will repel mosquitoes didn't know about the deer.

He will work I'd say EJ, good job. Any chance of planting something trailing in the bucket?

Hello, Bill! *shaking hands* I do hope you'll work well for EJ and scare those pesky pests to the other end of England. :D

Well done to all involved. I'm looking forward to seeing him with tomato hair.

Frank, we are going with some trailing tomatoes, and perhaps a mohican of basil. :) I may add some nasturtium also as I have an abundance of seeds. Glad you all like the old boy.
