Yes, it is mid-winter here, but we have a hummingbird. It is crazy because of the time of year but also there has never, ever been one sighted here through the centuries…it’s a first. This little beauty has a cushy job here. All right then, it’s a new cushion for the bench. Spoil-sports.

Abby it’s been unusually cold the last few days in the PNW. Did you know hummers go into Topor a sort of hummingbird hibernation. They can survive these cold temps by regulating lower body temperatures lasting days to weeks, or it can refer to a period of low body temperature and metabolism slowing lasting less than 24 hours called "daily torpor".
