Just for fun I took my camera outside at midnight to snap some photos and show you all what midnight looks like in mid-Norway in summer. We haven't got sun for 24 hours like Biita, but it's light: Hostas: Some too big perennials that self-seed everywhere, but they've got nice, white blooms all summer: The Stachys and hearts: The girls' veggie patch with peas, carrots and calendula. The carrots are yellow, orange and red ones. The fencing is to keep the cats out: I really like the night light, but it looks better in real life than in photos.
The photos look so relaxing without the bright sun. The midnight light gives the plants a whole different look than bright sun, almost the look they have on a dark overcast day with a gentle rain falling. Boy I miss those days.
Thanks Toni. We haven't got much bright sun at the moment. The dusk-like light is lovely for white blooms. They shine out at us from wherever they're planted. Some of the pale blue ones seem to glow from within some times too. Boy do we miss these nights when it's mid-winter.
Ahhhhh now that's why I love white flowers!! They really do seem to glow in the dark don't they? Midnight here and it's too dark to see anything but come 3.30am and it's almost daylight.
Only a few hours' drive south and the nights are dark like yours eileen. I'm glad we didn't tell the children it's bedtime because it's dark outside. We'd never get them to sleep in summer then.
Those white flowers are really stark-white in that light. I agree with Toni that the lighting is very relaxing...and it makes those white flowers a start-white. Boy, am I glad you took that midnight stroll. Pity you didn't see any hedgehogs tonight. chuckle.
Boy your flowers are pretty at midnight. Can I ask on another night that you may be out for a stroll could you please take a distance picture? Maybe looking down the road in the middle of the night?? I like to get a good perseption of what you all have. Here by 11:00 p.m. its already dark till atleast 5 in the morning. Anyway great picts thanks for sharing.
Thanks all. Petunia, I'll try to remember and do that. Since we live in it we don't think about it a lot, unless somebody's comment sticks. And my brain has teflone coating...
Ã…Ã…Ã…Ã… your midnight stroll looks like heaven! As you know its blinding sun at midnight and well all day and night. lol. But I sure miss it in the winter, thats for sure. Your plants are looking so nice Droopy, thanks for showing at midnight.
I sometimes wish we could sort of even the light out and have more light in winter, but I'd miss those everlasting summer nights then. Never satisfied, are we?
lol,,,I so agree! But i guess 6 months of one and 6 of the other, is even out kind of,,,,one extreme to the other.
Here you are petunia, down the road a bit past midnight: The mountains at quarter past midnight yesterday: I couldn't resist a border overview photo: Actually, I took two:
