I was on my antique group a couple of days ago and we were discussing lamps. Someone said that he had seen old 50`s 60`s drum lampshades used in a garden. Had a lightbulb go on in my head,, these things would make great mini greenhouses for starting garden plants. Cut the wire along the length and spread apart slightly, stick the ends into the ground over plants. Could even leave the white paper like cover on and just put clear plastic over the ends or cover all with clear plastic and duct tape. Could stand upright for taller ornamentals frost protection. Can usually find them at garage sales cheap.

I have a feeling you'll be going to a few garage sales soon. Do let us see what the drum lampshades look like once you've made them into your mini greenhouse.

I posted that for others benefit. I don`t plant till warm weather but others here like to start early. I will try to find one and make it so we know if it works or not.

www.antique-shop.com I have been a member there for years. Just a Q&A group like this one for gardening. Many people have antique or vintage items they want more info on and we try to help with that.
