I have two mini royal guards in my mini farm. This one I just found this morning.

This one had been around for a while.

Both of them are mini in size about 1.5 cm or ½ inch long. I have no idea what species they are but they are mini in size :)

Oh ,you are fortunate you have them. They take care of a lot of pests. (and, unfortunately, some of the good guys too! :( )

Sometimes I wish we had preying mantis here. I'm sure they'd take care of lots of the bugs we have.

Thanks 2ofus, I believe there are more bad bugs than good bugs.

Eileen I used to wish for them and now I have them!

I just realize that the Flower Mantis lives in your neck of the woods. One of my favorite Mantis. Maybe the one in the second picture is a juvenile. I love those little creatures.

When we lived in Texas a few years ago I had a cast iron Chinese lantern in the garden that I brought into the shop so DH could make a post for it. A few days later we were in the shop, along with DG and DGD when DGD told me I had a bunch of bugs on my lantern. It was a new hatch of baby praying mantis, LOTS of babies! We had to admire them and then I carefully took the whole thing back out to the garden and wished them well. I checked the next day and all were gone. I can't believe I didn't run in and get the camera first!

I do agree with you Barb, in my old place there were none.

You are so lucky to see a whole bunch of them 2ofus. It is easy to forget to take pictures when looking at some thing so spectacular unexpectedly!
