Our Monarch butterflies are just starting to arrive in central Texas on their way to overwinter in Mexico. Toni sent us some liatris seed, which we scattered in patches in the pasture. This is the result: Monarch on liatris ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) We have several patches of liatris now, and hope they will self-seed and spread, since the butterflies and our honeybees really like this wildflower. Toni the Enabler--and not only for humans!
I've seen a couple of them around here this weekend too. I guess that means more will be arriving soon!
I suppose they are all on their way now, as we have had cool and wet for the last week and in the fore cast for the next week they wouldn't like the weather up here anymore. Enjoy them all and tell them I miss them already.
Carolyn, They're just on the "annual extended vacation" that we all would like to be on. Don't be sad. They will come visit us again one day. Barb in Pa.
Yes Barb, But I have to endure the cold, blowing, snowing, did I mention COLD and SNOW? weather from now until April. I sure hope they enjoy their vacation. I wanted to go with them, but I have too many obligations here to keep me home. Maybe someday in a long, long, long time, we'll be able to travel on the same schedule LOL.
