Sisyrinchium ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) These were blooming in Geoff Hamilton's garden at Barnsdale when we visited last year. They had loads of seed pods so I took one and now have some lovely plants. I am sure dear old Geoff would not begrudge me taking a few seeds and in any event it is a lovely way to remember him Phlox ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) Echeveria ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) These Echeveria have survived a winter. I grow them in my very dry bed. Cacti ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) I noticed this beauty in my greenhouse this morning. Rose 'Chicago peace' ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) Acer ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) Standard fuchsia (Phyllis) ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) I am quite proud of this fuchsia as I grew it from a tiny tip cutting a few years ago. Callistemon(Bottlebrush) ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) Can anyone tell me if you can prune the bottlebrush plant as I grow it in a pot and it is growing quite large. Dwarf Alstroemeria ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) Cosmos ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) Coleus with lobelia ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden )
Oooh, what an interesting collection of flowers you have there! I really like that Sisyrinchium -- I'd like to have something like that. Looks like you would have nice foliage after the blooms. I don't know who Geoff Hamilton is -- but I got a chuckle about how you acquired the seed for it! I'm completely impressed with the bottle brush and the fuschia too. Here, I only see fuschia as an annual in baskets. Do you bring it inside in winter?
Geoff wouldn't have minded you purloining a few seeds I'm sure - after all we gardeners do love to share don't we? What a lovely display those Sisyrinchium make!! Your cactus flower is so clean and fresh looking - how I'd love to have a bloom like that in my greenhouse. I also really like your white phlox and cosmos - of course white is a favourite of mine in a garden. :-D
I do bring it inside daisybeans. It is a hardy variety but as it is a standard in a pot it is more prone to frost damage. Eileen, I thought you would like the white flowers
Thank's so much, I do love my garden and love sharing it with others. I must say there are some beautiful gardens on this forum, love seeing them and maybe picking up some ideas
They are all beautiful but I especially like the coleus and lobelia combo. The colors are a good play off each other. Thanks for sharing. More please!
I love all the differant colors. Of course I too like the last pict. of your coleus and lobelia. Your coleus colors are a bit differant then what I have. You have more of a solid color (which I like) and I have mixed colors. though I think I have a solid green one coming along. Thanks for all the bright colors.
More lovely things growing in your garden. As for the bottle brush, I just used to tidy mine up when it started getting wayward just trimming here and there. Lost that one a couple of winters ago, but my sister grew one from seed for me and it is growing well in the garden...no flowers yet though.
Agree on the color combo of the coleus and lobelia. I have never gotten lobelia to be much more than wispy. Yours looks delicate but sturdy.
All your blooms look fantastic. I really like the Sisyrinchium. I saw a similar Fuchsia standard at the garden center a few weeks ago. It was priced $50!
Well, G'girl--I could just look at your plant fotos for ages. That coleus and lobelia pot turned out well, didn't it?
Thanks for the lovely comments. Daisybeans, the lobelia is the bush variety rather than the trailing. Maybe that is why yours was wispy? Thanks for the info on the bottlebrush Emma. I did not know you could grow them outdoors here, I protect during the winter.
That "Chicago Peace" rost is a delicate and beautiful flower. The story of pinching a pod at Geoff Hamilton's place is a good one and gives the plants that you got from that all the more meaning. Well done, you. It is a pretty plant too.
