I insist that you buy a few Toni. I am putting it in a container with chartreuse coleus and blue torenia. And something yellow and trailing.

Kat, I got it at a little local garden center, but I am sure you can find them anywhere, WalMart had them last year, but not quite this early.

Persian Shield - what a beautiful purple color. I love the Copper Iris - another beautiful color. Once again I am only enjoying the color white in my yard so yours are especially great to see.

Wonderful pretties! That copper Iris is really something!
Good huntin' and gatherin', Richard. :smt023

I'm a huge fan of Persian shield (Strobilanthes dyerianus), too.
I've grown it in my garden beds for several years,
as well as in some mixed containers.

It's been pretty reliably hardy for me, but it's a slow starter,
it wants the ground temps to come well up before it starts to grow.

Last year I had some growing next to Celosia spicata,
it was a comination that I really liked.

I love Persian Shield and couldn't get through a summer without it! Shrimp plant is one of the first plants I bought with my own money as a kid and will always be dear to me. 8)
