We took a Saturday drive to the rock quarry south of town to get a load of limestone. I had conjured up the idea to enlarge my flower bed in the front yard under the big Pine.

So, after the rock was unloaded, I began to place the stones in the shape I wanted.

It took a while to tweak the shape, especially in front, so it would continue off the original, and not look added on. I dug a "trench" for the rock to sit in. Also, I had to undercut the grass to get it out.

I think I got it the way I envisioned it. I added some compost, and transplanted a few Hosta from another area. It is a shady place, grass never grew well there. Now, it's fun to have more room to plant! The ground is rather hard packed, and I'm certain there are tree roots to deal with. It will all evolve in good time! Now, the plan is to get some mulch down.
Not bad for a days work!

That is very nice, Kay. That is my kind of border for a garden. I have many like that. Can't wait to see what you plant in it.

Not bad at all Kay. It looks as though the new bed ties in very well with the original. Now you have lots more space to put in new plants. I'm looking forward to seeing it all planted up. Well done!! :smt041 :smt041

:) Brought mulch home from work with me to spread in the new bed. Also planted 3 little baby Japanese Painted Ferns. This will be fun! Thanks for the compliments. You are all so nice! :stew1:

That's very nice. Just wait till they get established. It will really look good.

Don't you just love how mulch makes a new bed look so spiffy? :stew2:
