Restored Viking longhouse. Viking long boat being renovated. Bus stop decorated by the locals for visitors. Oystercatcher. One of the small inter-island ferries. Quick sketch I made of a Puffin. Hooded crow.
I can't stop looking at the long house and Viking boat. That's exciting to see. I love how the locals decorate public spaces. Your sketch is pretty darn good!
I'm going to ask our council for bus stops like that one Eileen!! I think I know what the answer would be That's an excellent sketch! Once the longhouse is finished will it be open to visitor? That would be very interesting indeed.
Your sketch is beautiful, well done! The Viking long house and long boat are fascinating. Makes me miss Biita even more. The decorated bus stop is a wonderful idea and looks great, I love it.
Like everything else on Shetland the longhouse will (I presume) be opened to visitors when it's finished. The Shetland council doesn't charge for visiting castles, archaeological sites, visitors centres at Nature reserves, longhouses, longboats or even public loos.
Your sketching skills are very well developed Eileen - You should consider teach it to us someday! Seriously, before color photographs became common. People who wanted to document nature (specially when it came to building a plant and tree database) - Were all very good at sketching. They had to be, otherwise it just wouldn't work... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Sibylla_Merian http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS5MeF0dY-c http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botanical_artist
That is great, here we have to pay to visit the toilets!!! That is a nice sketch of the puffin. The Viking house and boat is interesting.
Yes KK, I too am very familiar with that, (to even have to pay for a visit to the toilets) - It must be an Asian thing I assume, as we really do tend to suck out the last drop of profit from just about everything under the sun! Reminds me of the Ferengi culture and their "Rules of Acquisition" in the Star Trek universe... A lot like us Asians, don't you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvFYBkesqGU
